The Cardiff Aquarium from Current USA certainly isn’t a new item to the all-in-one nano scene, but with the help of Houston’s Aquarium Design Group (ADG), this bullet-shaped tank is getting some great media exposure, as can be seen in the video above. ADG was able to use the Cardiff to create a few different types of freshwater displays, including a driftwood tank and a pair of fake plant tanks. Obviously both setups shown in the video are beautiful, and we would love to see a few saltwater setups, especially given the fact that the Cardiff is built with saltwater in mind. The all-in-one features a venturi protein skimmer (which won’t work on freshwater tanks), automatic water top-off system, a surface skimming overflow, and the typical array of biological, chemical, and mechanical filtration.
As for lighting, the Cardiff comes in three different flavors. An HQI metal halide pendant is available, as are a power compact fluorescent pendant and a pair of unidentified LED strips. I say unidentified because they look different than the LED strips that are currently available from Current USA, and I haven’t been able to track down the name of the light at this moment, though we will find out shortly. The retail on the Cardiff ranges from about $500 to $800 depending on the lighting system.
