Gorgeous Juvenile Bandit Angel from Blue Harbor

0

The Bandit Angel (Apolemichthys arcuatus) is a stunning little gem, especially this juvenile from Blue Harbor shown in the video above. This angel is tiny, probably around 2″ in total length, but is definitely a beautiful specimen. It exhibits only black and white coloration at this stage, but as it ages, the angel develops tan coloration above the lateral black line. The bandit angel is endemic to Hawaiian waters, only occasionally making its way to the mainland states. When it does show up, this little angel usually goes for several hundred dollars.

Blue Harbor, who based out of Japan, is known for their rare fish and this video wouldn’t be complete without at least one other rare gem making an appearance. Toward the end of the minute-long clip, a Wrought Iron Butterflyfish (Chaetodon daedalma) makes a brief appearance. This butterfly is a Japanese native and is even rarer and quite a bit more expensive than the bandit angel.
