Many hobbyists aren’t into aquariums for the challenge, enjoyment, or educational experiences. Instead, they get into the hobby to flaunt their lifestyle or impress the ladies, but express little to no interest in actually caring for the animals in their tanks. These type of hobbyists are probably the worst kind, giving other hobbyists a bad reputation, especially among conservation groups who seek the demise of the industry. Fair weather hobbyists usually kill tons of fish, often bragging about it or at the very least describing their situation to local fish stores. The LFS, at first hint of this type of hobbyist, should turn the potential customer away in favor of selling to more involved and more responsible aquarium keepers.
