Tip of the Day – 4/8/2011

Some people recommend that you feed your fish random amounts and at random intervals. Proponents of this method suggest this more closely mimics nature, because fish obviously don’t have a set feeding schedule. However, this method may lead to increased competition at feeding time, which may cause some of your aquatic residents to become aggressive and possibly injure other fish. To prevent this, try feeding around the same time every day, and make sure everyone eats. It would also be ideal to feed the tank multiple times per day, provided you or a trusted friend are there to feed multiple times per day and your nutrient levels don’t get out of hand.
