Saving fish from a terrible local fish store may seem like the humane thing to do at the time, but doing so only promotes the terrible conditions that persist at the store. If you purchase a sick and dying fish, the store looks at it as they are successfully selling their product, despite what the reality of the situation. And instead of investing the time and money into making the store better for its customers and livestock to promote sales, the store will continue to skate by on bad practices because they are still making a buck.
