Picture of the Week – 8/29 – 9/4

In this week’s AquaNerd POTW we get a look at a vibrantly colored powder blue tang (Acanthurus leucosternon), who is joined by a pair of percula clownfish in the aquarium of a local hobbyist. This species of surgeonfish  is usually seen covered in ich, which makes this find particular refreshing as there isn’t a blemish anywhere on it.  These tangs can also be quite aggressive towards other tangs, which makes violent encounters almost inevitable in any well stocked saltwater aquarium. The damage encountered in these attacks usually leads to minor fin damage, but constant battling can lead to far worse like persistent infections or even death.
