A few days leading up to MACNA, the web was buzzing with details about the all new EcoTech Marine Radion XR30w. Of course, we were intrigued by this new light as well, so we made a point to spend a little extra time at the EcoTech booth asking questions and shooting videos. Recapping on all of the features, the Radion was designed with modularity in mind with the driver, LEDs, and optics all being upgradeable. The LEDs are housed in two separate clusters and operate on five distinct channels. The emitters include four different types of the very popular Cree XP LEDs, which include cool white, blue, royal blue and green, and even a hyper red Osram LED. The total number of emitters is 34 and the power consumption of the fixture is roughly 130watts. Most of these features are similar to what other modules and fixtures offer up, but where EcoTech Marine steps away from the crowd is the Radion’s ability to communicate with the popular VorTech water pumps and even other Radion fixtures. On top of that, the feature-rich LED light is compatible with the EcoTech Battery Backup, so when the power fails, the tank can still be illuminated and still have ample water flow to keep oxygen in the tank.
