When getting ready to use frag plugs, make sure to soak them in reverse osmosis water for several days prior to using them. Some plugs, mainly the concrete ones, can leach things back into the aquarium and can even alter pH levels. If you are using a few plugs here and there, it may not be an issue, but if you use a large amount of plugs at any given time, soak them beforehand. Ceramic plugs shouldn’t be an issue, as they are fired during their construction and are inert for all intensive purposes.
