Every aquarium hobbyist should work at a local fish store at some point. There is so much knowledge to be gained by working at one, and you get to meet so many people who share your same passion for the aquarium trade. Not to mention, you will get exposed to so many different types of livestock, which each presenting a unique set of challenges and special requirements. Even if you just sling fish on the weekends because you already have a career, it’s still a good experience that can give you an entirely different view of the hobby.
