When topping off your aquarium setup with RO/DI water, try to avoid adding the water directly to the display aquarium where sensitive corals and other livestock reside. While it may not have a big impact, I prefer to add top-off water to my setups through the overflow boxes or in the first chamber of the sumps. This allows the freshwater to mix in thoroughly before it gets into the display tank, which prevents any potential salinity shock that the animals in the tank might face.
