Want to stay in moderate shape but don’t have time for both your aquarium hobby and a strenuos gym routine? Try working out with various objects while you perform tank maintenance. Buckets full of water are awefully heavy, and lugging them around for water changes can really work out your arms and back. But you don’t have to limit yourself to the select few motions of normal tank maintenance. You can get creative with it by doing lunges, stepping up and down stairs, and even moving at a hurried pace. The goal is to vary the routine and hit different muscle groups. All of that said, you don’t want to overdue it and hurt yourself. Remember to not use too much weight and to know your body’s limits. If you pull a muscle while doing aquarium maintenance workouts, then you’ll likely not be able to do any tasks at all…which obviously means a dirty aquarium.
