Fish acclimation is crucial to the long term health of any individual, but if you’re adding a smaller species to your tank, you might want to house them in a specimen container for a few days just so that they can get adjusted to the new water parameters before being harassed by the preexisting aquarium inhabitants. Because the first day of life in your tank is so crucial, you want to provide your fish with the best situation for survival possible. This means removing stressors from the equation and keeping the new fish secluded from potential harm. The small in-tank specimen containers work very well in a situation like this, and also allow you to make sure they eat before releasing them into the tank.
