Tip of the Day – 8/28/2012

It’s easy to pick up great corals at awesome prices when attending the various trade shows that are scattered across the aquarium hobby landscape. Unfortunately, it’s also easy to get caught up in the hype of the show and overpay for something that’s really common. To make sure you’re not getting burned, whip out the trusty smartphone and hit up the vendor’s website. Look for the item in your crosshairs, and if they’re selling it for more at the show than they do online, then just walk away. If the vendor is selling it at a discounted price at the show, then go for it. It’s not uncommon for vendors to sell coral frags cheaper at the shows, which makes it easier to take home more pieces at the end of the day. And this way you get to see the items in person before you buy them. It’s a win win in our book.
