Tridacna gigas Clam

If you love Tridacnid clams as much as we do, then you’ll certainly appreciate this week’s AquaNerd Picture of the Week. Shown above is a huge Tridacna gigas clam from one of the many display reefs at the Waikiki Aquarium, and interestingly, this four foot long behemoth isn’t the only one of its size at the public aquarium. The Waikiki Aquarium is home to several of these large clams, and there are actually two in this very aquarium, in fact. Additionally, the public aquarium has countless smaller Tridacnids from different species, including blue T. squamosa clams and a sunlit outdoor tank full of a huge variety.
