Desperate to add the good old natural biological filtration of a refugium to your nano aquarium, but don’t want to give up the rear chambers of the tank and don’t have room for a large external refugium? Try re-purposing a small media reactor into a refugium. The reactors are already small, clear and have virtually everything you need to grow and contain macroalgae, all you have to do is add a light source. You can strap a small LED strip or compact fluorescent light to the reactor, and it’s a good idea to paint the reactor to prevent excess light from spilling into the room.
