Selling used aquarium equipment can be quite frustrating, especially if you bought the item brand new and are relying on the funds to help alleviate the costs of buying something else. If you buy an item brand new, use it for a even a short duration, and realize you no longer need it, don’t expect to get a good return on your investment. For many items, the aquarium hobby as a whole won’t even show interest unless the items are listed for sale at half their retail price or less. For other items, like those in high demand, the market can quickly become flooded and drive down the sales price. This is only compounded by the fact that some folks don’t mind selling items for dirt cheap just to get rid of them. So, if you’ve got an item you’re looking to sell, you might have to take a big hit or just try to wait it out. You might get lucky and get your asking price, but expect to have to drop the prices or sit on the item for a while.
