If you have a water pump or powerhead that is too powerful but isn’t controllable, then you can point it various directions to make the flow a little easier on your aquarium inhabitants. By aiming the powerheads towards the water’s surface, for example, you can better dissipate the flow and create surface agitation. The pumps can also be pointed at the walls of the aquarium to create a softer deflected flow. Just pick an option that works best for you and make sure that none of your fish and corals struggle against the current.
