If you top off your aquarium manually, be careful with heavy buckets as they can easily slip from your hands or throw you off balance causing a huge mess. Besides the potential for big water spills, you can also damage the aquarium as the bucket comes down on an acrylic corner or the edge of the glass. The sudden jolt might do nothing, but it could also cause cracks and busted seams that could leak water from the aquarium all over the floor or electrical equipment. Not only that, but it might cause the entire aquarium to fail. To prevent from lifting the buckets, try using a small pump and some tubing to move the water from the bucket to the aquarium. Just be sure to hold the tubing in place so that water doesn’t shoot all over the room.
