There are few fish that get us more perked up than the unusual looking Dr. Seuss Soapfish (Belonoperca pylei), so it comes as no surprise that we were beside ourselves when some great footage of the fish showed up from Japan-based B-Box Aquarium. And to make the moment that much sweeter, they also had a clip of the always beautiful Maldives Hogfish (Bodianus opercularis). Both of the fish are quite rare, and neither one of them make it to the tanks of US aquarists often enough, so we jump at any chance we get to live vicariously through someone else.
Video of the hogfish can be seen after the page break.
We could go on and on for hours about these fish, but instead of boring you with filler text, we’ll let you get right to the videos. So, enjoy. I know I have.
