For goby owners, there’s almost nothing more joyful to watch than to see your little fish partnering up with one of those tiny pistol shrimp. This mutually beneficial relationship often yields plenty of interesting behaviors, including a constant digging and maintenance of burrows. But not ever pistol shrimp plays nicely with shrimp gobies. Sometimes this relationship falls apart, leading to the shimp snapping violently at any goby that gets close. While this normally doesn’t lead to the death of either the fish or shrimp, sometimes that occurrence does happen.
