We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. When moving your aquarium, have backups for everything. We recently moved an aquarium from one location to another, with the entire process grounded at some point due to a sump breaking. Now, you’d never bet that a sump would break, but these things do happen and the best way to be prepared is to either have a backup on hand or a really good game plane on how to operate without the broken device. We realize people just don’t have spare sumps laying around, so the latter of the two options is the most likely. In our case, we took the broken sump as more of an opportunity than anything else. We bought a glass tank locally and set it up exactly how we wanted it…and it turned out be a larger volume setup too. We had a good game plane from the onset of the potential disaster, and because of it we barely missed a beat. So, plan for those types of scenarios even if you don’t have the equipment on hand immediately.
