If you have a particularly shy fish in your possession, or plan on buying a fish that’s known to hide, you can build your live rock structure to help keep them out in the open comfortably. By using ledges, caves, large overhangs, and other structures that open up the rockwork while still providing protection, the fish will likely not hide in the back so much, but may hang out under these rock features. This will ensure that you can enjoy the fish more often, and it allows the fish to better adapt to the new environment and remain active. To build these structures, use a variety of rock shapes, as well as different items to secure the rocks in place. These include rock mortar, zip ties, epoxy, and acrylic rods.
