Aquarium equipment is like a five year old car with lots of miles on it, it just doesn’t hold its value. It truly is an unfortunate thing because you may have taken the best care of your items, they may be rust free and even come with the original packaging. Despite that, you might be lucky to get half of what you paid for it. And when you package things together as a full system, or even a partial system, you lose even more money. Since the aquarium hobby is so expensive, this breakdown in price is especially hurtful. If you sell an item, it’s a lot more difficult to raise the money for a replacement or an upgrade. If you’re looking to minimize your losses during a sale, break items up and sell them one by one, and try shifting your focus to something a bit more profitable, like coral fragging.
