Tip of the Day – 8/9/2013

In this day and age, buying corals is as simple as going to the grocery store. There’s also just about as much variety. You can choose between hundreds of different species, as well as wild caught, maricultured, aquacultured, etc. The possibilities are endless. Because of that, there is really no reason to purposefully purchase wild caught corals. Aquacultured corals are everywhere these days, and they are a great coral with which to fill a reef tank. They can be hardy, fast growing, and very colorful. Of course, wild caught and wild maricultured corals are still more abundant, and they’re not always labeled as such. And obviously you don’t have to limit your selection to what is at your local fish store. Seasoned aquarium veterans are always a great source for aquacultured corals.
