The aquarium industry is in constant flux. New equipment is always being released, new techniques are constantly surfacing. For tech savvy hobbyists, or those just wanting to stay in the now with techniques, keeping on top of things can wreak havoc on your aquarium. Because reef tanks require a great deal of stability in order to thrive, constantly swapping out hardware or altering the husbandry could cause just enough instability that your corals may not be in their best shape. There’s a great chance that things could be just fine, especially if you stay on top of the water chemistry and maintain a strict maintenance schedule, but corals don’t always respond well to big fluctuations.
