Tip of the Day – 10/24/2013

While we love and support the idea of hobbyists venturing into the commercial world and opening up their own fish store, other hobbyists encounter a lot of risk from buying livestock from these new storefronts. New stores don’t always have access to the best deals, either because they are inexperienced in order or just haven’t developed the store-to-wholesaler relationship that would lead to discounts. Another downside to new stores is there is a lot of potential to order livestock from poor quality wholesalers. Without the experience to know which wholesalers to use or avoid, new store owners seeking the best price might order from less reputable places, leading to high volume losses for both the store and its customers. We aren’t saying to avoid new stores, but we do recommend that you use caution when dealing with them, or any other store for that matter.
