If you don’t trust heaters in your aquarium during those long winter months, try to use a small personal heater to keep the entire room warm instead. If you can keep the ambient temperature up in the room where the tank resides, then you can possibly get away with the sometimes dangerous aquarium heaters. Of course, there are issues with using space heaters, as their heating can be inconsistent at times and they also present fire risks. But, they can’t directly heat the water, which is a much safer approach. If the idea of using a space heater is unsettling, there are plenty of different types of heating devices that can warm up an entire room.
