Tip of the Day – 1/1/2014

Obviously today is the first day of 2014. While January 1st marks the start of a lot of changes for most people (lose weight, get a better job, etc), it might also be a good chance for you to refocus on your aquarium and help keep that change from occurring. As most of you know, stability and predictability are paramount to a reef aquarium’s success. The closed system creates all sorts of stress on aquarium livestock, and maintaining a stable environment can help alleviate some of those stressors. On the flip side, if you aren’t having success in your hobby, then now is also a good time to evaluate how you could better create the stability needed to succeed…so in that sense, some changes might have to be made. Regardless, make logical decisions that put your aquarium in a better position to allow the livestock to thrive.
