Tip of the Day – 3/10/2014

With the cold weather finally giving way to warmer temperatures, it’s finally the time where the aquarium industry can resume business as usual. What do we mean by that? Well, the one of the biggest challenges our industry faces is livestock death from shipping stress. It happens all up and down the supply chain, and cold weather only compounds the issues. Livestock that is shipped gets stuck along the way because delivery companies can’t deliver due to the frozen streets and blizzard-like conditions. This causes shipments to be delayed or even prevented, really keeping fish and corals out of the hands of wanting hobbyists. But, that’s all over now and things can get back to normal…that is until summer gets here and shifts it to the opposite extreme.
