While this isn’t the greatest image that we have ever posted in our weekly installment of the AquaNerd Picture of the Week, we picked it for one very specific reason…check out that clam on the left. Do you see it? There are three clams pictured, in case you didn’t notice, and the one on the far left is covered in some sort of polyp. Above the mass of polyps, you can see the blue ring of the mantle tissue, but the shell is completely disguised by the soft corals. The polyps won’t hurt the clam in any way, but they can certainly detract from the overall look.
