Tip of the Day – 7/3/2014

It’s quite easy to dose more than the recommended amount of a supplement. With confusing directions and user experiences that are all over the place, overdosing things like calcium supplements or ZEOvit additives can be very easy. While the occasional exaggerated dosing might not cause any issues, certain supplements can wreak havoc if added in the wrong amount. Alkalinity additives, in particular, have been known to cause serious issues when overdosed. When these situations arise, there is really only one solution…dilution. Water changes are about the only way to fix these sorts of problems, as the process can dilute the amount of the additive in the water, thereby reducing its effects. This doesn’t mean the problem will be fixed right away, and multiple water changes might have to be performed to keep the water parameters in line even after the issue clears up.
