Swedish designer Charles Törnros set out to address what he perceived as flaws in the design of current desk top aquariums and achieved a result which is elegant, minimalistic and also customizable to match almost any home decor.  After 1240 design hours, 93 prototype revisions and 461 testing days the “Norrom Aquarium” was born.

The Norrom features various finished wood choices for customization of the lid and base to suit your decor.  It can also be purchased with an unfinished wood base and lid which can be painted or stained to match your home’s color scheme.

A single power cord which discretely feeds into the back of the base is all that is needed to operate the Norrom.  The pump and LED lights are tidily tucked away in the base.  The LED light all The aquariums lighting is completely hidden from view and only one power cord is discretely hidden neatly in the base of the aquarium.  The LED lighting delivers 500 lumens of power which is fully dimmable for early morning, daytime or evening moonlight effects..  The tank is illuminated by way of a light-diffusing bubble tube which extends through the middle of the tank from the base to the top where it is reflected back down again by hidden mirroring in the top of the tank.  Norrom designers explain that their unique lighting method results in less shimmering, less glare and a more even light distribution in the cylindrical aquarium. The Norrom aquarium is currently available in Europe for 269.00 – 319.00 EUR.  Visit the norrom website for more information.
