The hand-selected breeder of the Lightning Maroon Clownfish, Matt Pedersen, has released a pair of videos on his site The Lightning Project. The video is of the stunning Lightning clownfish and its new “mate-to-be” (hopefully), which is also from Papua New Guinea. The Lightning clown was originally separated from its new counterpart, but apparently scaled an eggcrate wall, or at least squeezed around it, in order to pair up with his new companion. The Lightning clown is much smaller than the other clown, indicating that it is a male.
