President Obama Makes June National Oceans Month

I normally tend to shy away from politics, as Washington is full of people who say one thing and do another. However, I do support legitimate conservation-based policies and politicians who show a genuine concern for our world. President Obama released a Presidential Proclamation yesterday on the White House’s website designating June 2011 as National Oceans Month. This designation is designed to celebrate the value of our oceans and recognize their critical role in our daily lives.

The proclamation goes on to describe the Executive Order directing the Obama Administration to implement a national policy for the Stewardship of the Ocean, Our Coasts, and the Great Lakes, which was signed into law last year. The policy is designed to more effectively use federal funds and resources to tackle the most critical issues facing the oceans and other waterways.
