Marine Breeding Initiative
In just a couple of days, the Marine Breeding Initiative will be hosting the 2011 Marine Breeder’s Workshop at the Cranbrook Institute of Science in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Despite the massive amount of aquarium events that are held every year, the Marine Breeder’s Workshop is the only one of its kind, as it is dedicated solely to the captive breeding of marine ornamentals. The single day event will be held on July 23rd from 9am to 5pm and will feature five guest speakers, which include Matt Wittenrich, Matt Pedersen, Todd Gardner, Jay Hemdal, and Randy Reed. Tickets are currently on sale to the tune of $20 per person and a special room rate has been negotiated with a nearby Radisson hotel. We love aquarium events, but this one has more than just products to show off. It’s truly one of the most beneficial events for the hobby, as it promotes the captive breeding of the marine fish we’ve all come to know and love. On top of that, the breeding of aquarium fish relieves the stresses off of wild populations.
