Does your local aquarium club want to host a guest speaker at its next club meeting, but airplane tickets and other travel expenses just cut too deep into the budget? Well, if you’re club is a member of the Marine Aquarium Societies of North America (MASNA), then you’re in luck. Through the MASNA Speaks program, your aquarium club can receive up to $300 to help cover the actual transportation and lodging expenses for certain guest speakers. The only caveat is that the guest speaker has to be from the the MASNA database…which isn’t much of a stipulation considering how many popular speakers are on that list. Each club that participates in MASNA can get this speaker credit once a year, which will come in the form of a reimbursement after all of the travel expenses have been paid. The aquarium club will need to independently contact the guest speaker and schedule the event.
MASNA funds a whopping 24 speaking events per year, but that also means clubs are served on a first come first serve basis and your club may not get the credit this year. For additional details, follow the link above.
