Arizona is one of the last places you’d expect to find a thriving saltwater aquarium community, but over the past few years, the area has just exploded with all manner of salty goodness…and it’s about to get even better. This weekend, the Arizona Fish & Reef Aquarium Group (AZ F.R.A.G.) is hosting the 2013 Southwestern Coral Farmers Market SM, and if it’s anything like the other CFM shows, it will be packed will all sorts of high end coral frags and tons of hobbyists looking to find their missing showpiece. The event offically takes place on Saturday, November 23rd from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM at the Tempe Mission Palms Hotel.
Bringing the goods to the CFM event are 23 coral vendors from all over the Soutwest region, including Arizona, Colorado, Texas and California. Additionally, several equipment vendors will be on site, showing off their latest and greatest to hobbyists who aren’t just looking to pick up frags. Further adding to the show, the SW-CFM will host auctions, raffles, and door prizes at various points throughout the day. As far as we know, and we may be wrong, but this is the first we’ve heard of an auction being held at one of these events. There may have been auctions at events like Next Wave, which is held in conjuction with the CFM, but they weren’t widely advertised if they were there.
Perhaps one of the best perks to this event is that it is 100% free to the attending public. No cover charge at the door, no online ticket orders. Just show up and buy some frags, simple as that. This obviously bodes well for both the attendees and the vendors, as less money will be spent trying to get into the show and more can be spent on the corals themselves.
