Manta Ray Steals Diver’s Camera

The manta ray is usually a very peaceful and graceful plankton eater, but this diver found out the hard way that they can also exert quite a bit of power. The diver in the video above can be seen filming a group of manta rays, a ball of fish, and other night life of the sea, when one manta ray gets a little too close. It’s hard to tell from the video, but the camera apparently gets caught in the mouth of the ray, which then proceeds to flip out and swim away with the camera still in tow. The $10,000 camera equipment was eventually recovered, but not before the ray took it for an 8-minute trip through the moonlit reef.
